You must be at least 18 years old on the day of your tattoo, with a valid ID, to book an appointment.
BOOK NOW
what happens after I submit my inquiry?
I will reach out to you by email after I receive your inquiry. I'll ask any questions I have about your design, and if it sounds like I'm the right artist for you then we'll work on scheduling your appointment.

what makes working with a tattoo apprentice different?
As an apprentice, I work closely with my mentor and veteran tattoo artist Brandon Blackwood at almost every stage of the tattoo. He ensures that you are given a reasonable quote and that each design I create is ready to go on skin. Blackwood is available to answer any questions you might have at any stage in the tattoo process.

As an apprentice, I have some limitations in what I'm currently allowed to tattoo and how many sits it takes me. For many pieces it is likely we will split your appointment into two sits, one for linework/blacks and one for shading/coloring. You can also expect to sit a little longer while I take my time to do a good job on your piece.

how do your deposits work?
You need to pay an upfront non-refundable deposit in order to secure your appointment date. It will be applied toward the cost of the tattoo on the day of. If you are unable to make your appointment, you may lose your deposit and be asked to pay a new one to re-book. A deposit does not entitled you to a reschedule, and the amount is at my discretion.

An appointment can be cancelled by myself for any of the following reasons, including but not limited to: not showing up on time, showing up with an unpleasant odor or noticeably poor hygiene, showing up unprepared to receive a tattoo (being intoxicated, not having your ID on you, having an undisclosed rash or skin condition at the site, etc.), or requesting too many changes to the design such that it cannot be properly redrawn in time for the appointment or it is clear you need more time to consider the tattoo.

Designs for any tattoo you do not get may be offered to other customers.

do you do in-person consultations?
Only on a case-by-case basis, such as needing to see your anatomy in person to help me plan a piece if photos do not suffice. Discussing the design will otherwise always be through email.

what forms of payment do you accept?
I only accept cash on the day of. This is shop policy.

when do I see my design?
I will share rough sketches or mockups as your appointment approaches to make sure I'm on target for what you want. You will likely see the final design right before or on the day of your appointment, during which you can request small adjustments.

do you take walk-ins?
Yes, I do. I also accept same-day appointments. If you want to guarantee that I'm available to tattoo you, it's best to submit an inquiry ahead of time.

what is your cancellation policy?
Please email me ahead of time if you think you may be late to your appointment or be unable to make it, and we can work to reschedule. Depending on the circumstances, you may lose your booking deposit.

does the shop have other artists who might be a better fit for me?
Brandon Blackwood specializes in large-scale black and gray realism, as well as color realism.

Tyranicorn specializes in neo traditional and watercolor tattoos using a wide rainbow range of color.

how do I protect myself from scammers using your name?
Scammers will impersonate artists online and book a fake appointment with someone so they can steal their money. Here's what to know about me so you don't get scammed:
  • This website, rectifiertattoos.com, is my only personal website.
  • You will only receive correspondence from me through the email [email protected].
  • My social media accounts are through Instagram under the username rectifier.tattoos and TikTok under the username @rectifiertattoos.
  • I will never book a tattoo through a DM. I will always direct you to my consult form or to my official email.
  • I only phone clients through the shop phone: 608-819-8287 unless specified ahead of time through my official email.
If you are ever unsure if a message from me is legitimate, you are always welcome to contact me using one of the above means to verify.

what are you currently able to tattoo as an apprentice?
I can tattoo both blackwork and color up to around roughly 3" x 4" in size. I can do arms, legs (including ankles), and around shoulders. If you're not sure if the piece you want falls within my scope of ability, simply send a request form anyway and we can discuss if it's something we can wait to book or do right away!

what do you like to tattoo?
I enjoy tattooing:
  • animals, especially birds, fish, and insects
  • moons, stars, suns, hearts, and other fun symbols
  • stylized faces, ladyfaces, faces with strong emotions
  • lanterns, vials, daggers, fans, fruit, flowers
  • surreal imagery where two or more elements are uniquely combined in an artistic way
  • art deco patterns, bold black framing devices

what won't you tattoo?
Take a look at my "NO LIST" to see the styles, subject matters, and locations I'm currently not booking for.

what if I want a design someone else made?
If the style of the design is within my wheelhouse, I may tattoo it as close as possible as long as you provide evidence of permission from the original artist. Otherwise, I will design a custom piece for you based off the artwork to capture what you like about it in a way that doesn't violate the original copyright.

getting tattooed

how do I prepare for my appointment?
After scheduling, I'll email you a helpful guide on what you can bring and how to get ready for your tattoo. It includes the following:
  • DO NOT FORGET YOUR CASH! As we are currently cash-only, please remember to stop by an ATM on your way to the shop.
  • Bring a valid form of government photo ID for your paperwork, which is required to be tattooed.
  • Bring snacks and a sealed beverage if desired--bottled water is provided at the shop.
  • Bring a book, tablet, headphones, pillow, or whatever helps you feel comfortable while you sit. Don't forget to charge your devices!
  • Wear comfortable clothes that can be moved or removed to allow access to the tattoo location. Keep in mind that clothing near the tattoo site may be at risk of getting ink or ointment on it.
  • Please shower and have a clean body when you arrive.
  • Eat a meal before your appointment, and stay well-hydrated.
  • Avoid using lotions or ointments on the area being tattooed the day of.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol the night before / day of your tattoo.
  • Please limit any company to only ONE additional person, as we are a small private studio and do not have much room to host additional people for every artist’s client. No pets are allowed in the shop.
  • Arrive a few minutes early to make sure you can find parking. Scroll down to find a parking guide for best places to park all day in the area. We are located on the lower level of the building.
  • Please read the Aftercare instructions on the following website to make sure you are prepared for healing your tattoo in the days and weeks after: https://www.adeadanchortattoo.com/after-care
  • If you are sick or healing from a recent injury or surgery, please reschedule your appointment. Please reach out if you have any skin conditions on or near the tattoo site.

how do I heal my tattoo?
You'll be sent home with an adhesive second skin bandage, unless you've had negative reactions to these types of bandages in the past. See the Aftercare page for information on healing your tattoo.

do you offer touch-ups?

Yes. Touch-ups are free within the first 6 months of getting tattooed. They can be scheduled once your tattoo is fully healed.

what is a touch-up?
Not all tattoos need a touch-up. A touch up is NOT a color refresh, additions or changes to your existing tattoo, recoloring your piece, adding a new tattoo on top of or next to your existing piece, or making black "blacker" or white "whiter" in your tattoo. If your new tattoo has been severely damaged (by yourself, your child, your line of work, a pet, risky behaviors, cuts/scrapes, etc.) you may not be entitled to a free touch up.

Reasons you may need a touch up include:
  • A portion of your tattoo's linework is faded or inconsistent.
  • The color in your tattoo looks washed out or "patchy."
  • Your tattoo scabbed over and is missing a spot where the ink used to be.
  • A follow-up appointment was requested by me.
